Breathwork

Breathwork has existed for centuries, with roots in many ancient Eastern practices and religions, including Yoga, Buddhism, Christianity, Sufism and Shamanism.

Conscious Connected Breathing is a powerful tool for healing and transformation, using breath that is connected and in constant flux. It is based on diaphragmatic breathing, fully engaging the stomach, abdominal muscles and diaphragm. As well as strengthening the diaphragm and stabilising the core muscles, it aids relaxation, reduces the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and lowers the heart rate and blood pressure. Coupled with the connected element of this breathing practice, the body goes into an ‘auto pilot reset’ mode, cleansing the body, mind and emotions.

The average person uses just 25% of their respiratory system, and many people have developed very shallow dysfunctional breath patterns, leaving them stressed, uptight and anxious.

This simple breath technique teaches a freer flowing breath. The increased oxygen flow can bring many physical benefits, such as boosting the immune system, improving sleep, increasing energy levels and sporting performance. It also boosts blood flow and oxygenation, and increases the rate of cell generation, leading to a more efficient lymphatic system.

Breathwork can also relieve symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety, creating a sense of inner calm, peace and relaxation, and bringing clarity and focus. A Breathwork practice enables us to process the stresses of everyday life, improving our physical and mental wellbeing and deepening the relationship with ourselves.
